There is however much more behind the definition and people will have their own strengths and weaknesses and be more content, healthier or happier in some parts of their lives than in others – it’s the part(s) where they feel they are not performing well in that has a negative impact on other areas and therefore one’s overall wellbeing. This may be perception or it could be a reality.  Improving one’s wellbeing will be personal and focusing on specific areas that person needs to address, and the outcomes, will be the ultimate goal and different for everyone.

For example, you can have a great job and financial security, but your relationship with your kids may be terrible which has a negative impact on your domestic life. Or, you may be trying to overcome a bereavement which has a terrible impact on your state of mind, fitness and ability to concentrate. Your goal may be to be a more productive member of the community or launch a better career path. The outcome will be different for everyone.

Is a Wellbeing Coach Right for You?

Few people go through life plain sailing. We all have our ups and downs and how we react to these challenges varies between us all. While some brush them off with ease, others take time to adjust and a helping hand, guidance and support can give a huge boost.  If you want to make positive changes in your life, be a better version of yourself, realise your full potential, gain confidence, be more resilient, achieve specific tasks, address difficulties, have better relationships or improve your career then there’s a good chance wellbeing coaching will be a good choice.

How Long Does Coaching Take?

As with all things ‘coaching’ there is no definitive answer to how long an individual will require coaching assistance. It depends on several things, including:

  • What the issues are

  • The client’s motivation

  • How ready the client is to make changes

To get the best out of their service, a coach will expect you to fully commit to learning the tools required to improve your life, otherwise nothing will change! If you are considering coaching take a look at this list, can you make (and keep) these promises in order to improve your wellbeing?

  • Are you prepared to allow yourself to make your health and wellbeing a priority?

  • Are you able to be totally honest with your coach and, more importantly, yourself?

  • Will you promise to focus on the positives in your journey to wellbeing, leaving any negativity behind?

  • Are you prepared to take full control of your own life?

  • Will you commit to getting rid of any harmful habits (smoking for example)?

  • Will you allow yourself to fully enjoy all the good things in your life?

  • Are you willing to accept that you are a unique individual and not a clone or carbon copy of someone else?

  • Will you try new things?

What Are the Outcomes?

The aim of wellbeing coaching is to enable you as an individual to live in a state of contentment and physical good health.

This may involve big changes (perhaps initially broken down into a series of small steps) and an ongoing commitment to maintain the new lifestyle and habits.

Coaching may be required at intermittent stages in the future to help keep you on track.
